Video Compression by Three-dimensional Motion-Compensated Subband Coding
نویسندگان
چکیده
Three-dimensional subband coding is an alternative approach to hybrid coding schemes which are used in todays video compression standards. In this work, two possible models for three-dimensional subband coding have been tested. In model I the temporal ltering is performed directly on the input sequence. In model II the temporal ltering is performed along the trajec-tories of the motion. In both models the resulting lowpass and highpass sequences are coded using interframe and intraframe coding. Motion compensation is performed using blockmatch-ing. The coding results are compared to the H263 standard.

Architectures of Incorporating Mpeg-4 Avc into Three-dimensional Subband Video Coding
3D subband video coding provides an elegant fulldimensional solution for scalable video coding. However, due to the Motion-Compensated Temporal Filtering (MCTF) with open-loop structure and no good rate distortion optimization trade-off between the texture coding and overhead coding of the corresponding mode and motion vectors within narrow bandwidth, its performance is unsatisfactory at low bi...
متن کاملVideo coding with motion-compensated lifted wavelet transforms
This article explores the efficiency of motion-compensated three-dimensional transform coding, a compression scheme that employs a motion-compensated transform for a group of pictures. We investigate this coding scheme experimentally and theoretically. The practical coding scheme employs in temporal direction a wavelet decomposition with motion-compensated lifting steps. Further, we compare the...
متن کاملTemporally scalable motion compensated adaptive temporal subband coding of video
It has been asserted that temporal subband coding (TSB) is inferior to predictive coding for regionally motion compensated (e.g. block-based MC) temporally scalable compressed video [1]. There are two major disadvantages of TSB coding: temporal ltering distortions, and `open-loop' predictive coding of covered and uncovered regions. The `open-loop' structure of TSB coding, however, a ords two ma...

Motion-compensated temporal filtering is an essential ingredient of recently developed wavelet-based scalable video coding schemes. Lifting implementation of these decompositions represents a versatile tool for spatio-temporal optimizations and numerous improvements have thus been proposed. In this paper, we propose an optimized prediction scheme built on a 5/3 motion-compensated filterbank but...
متن کاملScalable video compression using longer motion compensated temporal filters
Three-dimensional (3-D) subband/wavelet coding using a motion compensated temporal filter (MCTF) is emerging as a very effective structure for highly scalable video coding. Most previous work has used two-tap Haar filters for the temporal analysis/synthesis. To make better use of the temporal redundancies, we are proposing an MCTF scheme based on longer biorthogonal filters. We show a lifting b...
